Christmas Pudding in a bottle…

Our Naughty and Nice Festive gins provide you with both a savoury and a sweet option. Our Nice Festive Gin is the sweet gin, inspired by Christmas Pudding - also known as plum pudding or figgy pudding.

Christmas Pudding is a staple around the Festive Season, with each family having their own traditions as to how they enjoy it.

With its origins in the fourteenth century, Christmas Pudding has been around for a long, long time, and there is almost as much history and lore around Christmas Pudding as there is about Absinthe!

Originally made using beef and mutton with raisins, wines, currants, and spices (this reminds us of a Friends episode where Rachel makes a trifle with beef), over time the recipe changed to adapt to what we know today. There are those that believe that Christmas Pudding must have 13 ingredients to represent Jesus and his twelve disciples - this religious association led to it being banned in the mid-seventeenth century by Oliver Cromwell to ensure sombre reflection of the season rather than drunken revalry.
There are superstitions that Christmas Pudding must be stirred east to west for good luck, and one which we had as children - whomever finds the 5c piece gets the money and good luck for the year. Dad is the only one who ever found the 5c piece…

Many, many people eat it, even if they don’t like it. Sam personally believes that the only reason that custard exists is to make Christmas Pudding more palateable. We have chatted to so many people who love Christmas Pudding, and a few that don’t, and to those we say “If you don’t like to eat it, it’s ok you can now just drink it” :-)
