Why Spiced Pumpkin?

What is Spiced Pumpkin, and where does it come from?
Spiced pumpkin typically refers to dishes that are made using pumpkin as the main ingredient and are flavored with a variety of warm and aromatic spices. In The USA, this is especially popular during the autumn (fall) and winter months when pumpkins are in season and there's a desire for cozy, comforting flavors.

One of the most famous spiced pumpkin dishes is pumpkin pie, a classic dessert enjoyed during Thanksgiving and other holiday gatherings. Pumpkin pie is made by blending cooked and pureed pumpkin with a mixture of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. This spiced pumpkin mixture is then poured into a pie crust and baked until set.

Apart from pumpkin pie, spiced pumpkin can also refer to dishes like pumpkin spice latte, which is a popular coffee beverage that combines espresso, steamed milk, pumpkin flavoring, and a blend of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. This beverage has become associated with the autumn season and is often enjoyed as a comforting drink.

Other spiced pumpkin treats and dishes include pumpkin spice muffins, pumpkin spiced oatmeal, pumpkin spice bread, and even savory dishes like spiced pumpkin soup. The spices used can vary, but common choices include cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and allspice.

Overall, spiced pumpkin dishes are cherished for their rich, warm flavors that evoke feelings of coziness and nostalgia, making them a beloved part of autumn and winter culinary traditions.

Our Spiced Pumpkin Gin
Our Spiced Pumpkin Gin was inspired by Pumpkin Pie and Spiced Pumpkin Latte.

Sam and Chris both spent time living in the USA - different places and different times, Chris was in the Napa Valley making wine (some people have all the luck), and Sam was up in Seatlle.

After Sam grew too many pumpkins at home, they wondered what to do with the excess produce - and when you own a distillery - there is only one option: Gin!! Sam and Chris immediately thought about the most popular pumpkin-y thing that they knew - and after a number of trial runs, our Spiced Pumpkin Gin product was born.

True to it’s autumn/winter coziness “feels”, which is a beautiful gin to sit and sip in the colder months. No ice needed, but garnish with a slice or orange and a stick of cinnamon. However, this little gin is turning out to be one of the most versatile gins that we have created:
- Summer it up with ginger beer as a mixer
- Add it to your hot chocolate to spice it up a little
- Use it in place of whisky in your hot toddy
- Use it when baking your carrot cake
- Soak your mixed fruit in it when making a fruit cake

And that’s just we have thought of for now!!!

Get your bottle today and let us know what you do with it!
